Research Interests

Reinhard Bachmann's research focuses on issues of Strategic Management, Organizational Analysis and Comparative Management. Specifically, the role of social mechanisms (trust, power etc.) and societal influences (institutional arrangements, cultural traditions) on the structure and strategic organization of business relationships are emphasised in his work.

He is co-editor of a forthcoming Special Issue of Organization Studies on trust and the global financial crisis (http://www.organisationaltrust.org/news/special-issue-of-organization-studies-trust-in-crisis/). Also, he is one of the convenors of an EGOS standing working group (SWG) on organizational trust: (http://www.organisationaltrust.org/) and Deputy Editor-in Chief of the Journal of Trust Research. 

In addition, Reinhard Bachmann is the leader of a research consortium to study the airline industry (http://somwp.som.surrey.ac.uk/icaros/), and (together with Profs Taeyoung Yoo and Mooweon Rhee) he currently holds a research grant from the South Korean Research Fund to look into phenomena of global convergence and national identity in Korean business relationships (http://builder.hufs.ac.kr/user/sskyoo/index.html).
