Surrey Business School Subject Areas
To facilitate our world leading research and teaching, academic staff at the Surrey Business School are distributed into five specialist subject groups. We also conduct research within our centres and networks.
Entrepreneurship and Innovation
The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Group combines leading-edge research with industry experience to inform policy and entrepreneurial practice as well as deliver teaching excellence. Our teaching programmes include the well regarded MSc Entrepreneurship.
Finance and Accounting
The Finance and Accounting Group conducts research into Corporate Finance, Corporate Governance, Mergers and Acquisitions, Credit Risk, Bond Contracting, IPOs, Emerging Capital Markets International Accounting Issues, Foreign Direct Investment and Real Estate Finance and Economics.
International Business and Sustainable Systems
The International Business and Sustainable Systems Group conducts research into internationalization and strategic and organisational change processes, both in domestic and internationally operating firms. It includes the Research Centre for Comparative Studies on Organizational Learning in International Settings (COLIS), the Business Clusters, Networks & Economic Development (BCNED) group and the Centre for Trust Research (CTR).
Marketing and Retail Management
The Marketing and Retail Management Group conducts research into strategic and operational management, planning and policy issues relating to marketing, retailing and consumption. It is also actively involved with industry and practitioners via a number of links which include consultancy projects, executive classes, speaking at industry conferences and events and supplying media commentary. The Group offers programmes at Undergraduate and Masters level as well as supervising PhD and DBA doctoral students in a range of Marketing and Retail areas.
People and Organisations
The People and Organisations group conducts highly-regarded research into a wide range of contemporary issues. We teach organisational behaviour, human resource management, research methods, and other subjects; and we are actively involved with practice through research and consultancy projects, speaking at industry conferences and events, and delivering continuing professional development.
