Operations Management and Management Information Systems
The Operations Management and Management Information Systems (OM&MIS) subject group research focuses on ways to maximise businesses managers’ ability to improve operations and achieve goals through the use of information and advanced information and communication technologies. Areas of research interest within the group include the following:
- Data and Information Fusion - creating performance advantages through combination of information from multiple resources
- Information management and exploitation – maximising ability of managers to make decisions under limiting conditions
- Usability and Human Computer Interaction - capitalising on the benefits and mitigating problems that result at the interface between human cognition and digital technology. Research into precise measures for user acceptance that are more reliable across different contexts
- Large-Scale Information Systems and Virtual Environments – maximising the benefits and advantages from usage of increasingly prevalent large-scale systems and virtual environments
- IT and Marketing- harnessing IT to facilitate a progressively globalised, interconnected and shrinking world
- Operations Management – new competencies development in networked supply chains. Exploiting operational analysis techniques to support management decision making in complex operations environments.
