Dance and spectacle
Summary
Dance and Spectacle interrogates dance's complex historical relationship with the society and politics of the spectacle in the widening fields of site-specific performance, screen studies and popular dance. The theme of dance and spectacle will form a strand of the discussion topics addressed at the 2009 Popular Dance and Music Matters Symposium and will be the title of the 2010 Society of Dance History Scholars international conference which will be hosted by the Department.
