Learn the story of Schrodinger's Cat and how it can apply to modern computer at our stand 'Schrodinger's Cat in a Silicon Chip' at the National Big Bang Fair in Birmingham. Find out how the behaviour of electrons is different to the behaviour of larger objects, how they can be in two places at once and how that will allow us to develop super fast computers.

The biggest single event of its kind in the country, The Big Bang Fair moves to Birmingham for 2012. An award-winning combination of exciting theatre shows, interactive workshops and exhibits delivered by household names, together with careers information provided by a wide range of people already working in the field, The Big Bang Fair enables young people to see science and engineering in a new light. Over a three day period in March, The NEC will be teeming with thousands of young people, their teachers and parents, all of them ready to be inspired to learn more about the science, technology, engineering and mathematics around them; to understand the importance of studying science and maths and the wealth of opportunities available to them in education and beyond, into the world of work.

Build bridges with chocolate. Test your speed and strength, and learn about the science behind your body’s everyday, yet amazing, feats. Learn about the forces behind rollercoasters. Discover how to save the world in 60 minutes. Find out about making movie magic with special effects. Enjoy live cookery demonstrations that show you how the food on your fork gets there. National Science & Engineering Competition
The Big Bang Fair hosts the finals of the National Science & Engineering Competition, student visitors can meet young people – just like them – who are some of the best, brightest and most enthusiastic science, technology, engineering and maths champions in the UK. Finalists will showcase their projects demonstrating how school subjects can translate into real-world passions.
