Improvements in nutrition, health and disease prevention and treatment mean that the UK’s population is living to be older.

Life expectancy has doubled in the last 100 years and it may increase even further. But old-age for many means physical changes and diseases that often have a significant impact on quality of life. These issues are rarely discussed and are often poorly addressed. What goes wrong and what can science do about this?
