The Surrey Business School works with schools and colleges to raise young people’s aspirations to continue onto Higher Education, and to inspire them about our subjects. This work includes taster events, school visits, business simulations and exhibiting at skills festivals.

SimVenture
SimVenture is an award winning business simulation, which fast-tracks business and entrepreneurship skills and understanding. Used in a competition setting, students compete against each other to start up their own company, using the prompts and tips provided to make the most profit within the allotted time. This simulation complements the Business Studies curriculum very well, incorporating marketing, sales, finance and operations elements.
We are offering this simulation to be run either on campus here, or in-school, at no cost to yourself, and is suitable for GCSE, AS and A level students.

Trading Simulation
The University of Surrey is pleased to offer the opportunity of a hands-on financial markets trading simulation. Students are able to manage a portfolio of shares and trade them in a simulated environment as global news unfold on screen. A two hour session, this can only be delivered on the University of Surrey campus, at no cost to yourself. This simulation is suitable for year 11, AS and A Level students.

Junior Apprentice
We are pleased to advise that we are rolling out a project aimed at schools and colleges for Year 9 upwards. Schools will be sent a pack containing all information, and the activity takes place within the school/college. Teams of up to 6 will be given a creative brief, asking them to design and market a new product (details will be given in pack). The finished project, with accompanying report will be sent back, and judged by University academics and local experts, with the winning teams invited back to the University to compete against each other in a final task.
The inaugural year saw students being asked to design a new cereal brand, complete with design, marketing campaign and report. Please contact us if you would like to take part.

Dragons Den
Aimed at Year 10, this new activity will allow pupils to come up with their own unique business idea. Participating schools will come onto campus and compete against each other to win £100 worth of Amazon vouchers for their school. The day will cover how to create a unique product, business plans and marketing, plus much, much more! FOr more information, please contact us.
Subject Taster Days
Throughout the year, subject taster days are offered, including interactive talks given by subject tutors, campus tours and student life talks.
Bespoke events
We are offering an academic speaker to attend your school or college, to give a presentation based on our research into contemporary Tourism and Hospitality topics to promote these subjects as valuable degree choices. Topics that might be of interest to you may include the climate change and the tourism industry, reducing social exclusion through tourism, strategic choices for multinational hotel chains, entrepreneurship in small hotels or using the events industry to regenerate local economies. Please contact us to arrange a visit to your school or college.
