Science Circus 2007
On Saturday 22nd September 2007, schools and families across the region attended the sell out Surrey Science Circus at the University of Surrey. Science enthusiasts from all ages experienced inspirational talks, exciting demonstrations and a hands on zone filled with fascinating experiments throughout the day.
Johnny Ball: 'Past Imperfect, Future Fantastic'
The motivational lecture took a humorous look at historic human failings and asked whether the next generation will do any better.
John Luton: 'Chemistry is Magic!'
This was a truly spectacular demonstration lecture highlighting the excitement of practical chemistry. John wowed the audience with displays of the power of hydrogen and what happens when chemicals are mixed.
The Science Museum's Bubble Show
The Amazing Bubble show explored the ways to keep bubbles alive and explained what the colours meant.The incredible spectacle allowed everyone to join in the fun as well as learn how different materials change the way others behave.
Hands on Zone: Chemical Reactions
A range of small experiments were set up to allow participants from all ages to experience for themselves the wonder of science. The zone also allowed interaction with a number of projects run by the university. Activities included; Light Fantastic, Hocus-Pocus, Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream, Goo, Microscopy, balloon modelling and much more.
