Magical Chemistry Show

A fantastic explosive chemistry show by John Luton from Varndean College. A tremendous tour of solids, liquids and gases. Witness truly spectacular demonstrations including ‘Elephants Toothpaste’ and ‘Barking Dogs’ showing just how exciting chemistry can be. Be warned that there will be loud bangs, bright lights and smoke.

With plenty of audience participation and his own guitar, FameLab winner Dr Mark Lewney takes us from instrument to ear to brain to explain the science of music and reflects on why we have evolved our musical abilities. You don’t have to play an instrument to join in - air guitar heroes are welcome too!

The REAL Science of the Circus

Come watch James Soper perform a spectacular combination of top-quality circus skill and science education. Spectacular juggling and balancing tricks are used together with lots of volunteer help to show how forces work and combine when real circus performers show off their skills.

How can you draw with light? How you can make graffiti with light? Can science influence art? In this workshop you will make LED ‘throwies’ and use them to draw pictures with light.

Take core samples and identify the different ‘rock’ types in chocolate bars then use this information to create a map. Geology was never this much fun at school

Interactive science show using items you can find in and around the home.
The group divides into teams with each team given 100 IQ points to begin with, and, over a series of visually spectacular experiments, the aim is to build up as many points as possible. The teams must decide how confident they are in each prediction and risk their IQ points accordingly. The experiment is then carried out, with points awarded for correct answers. But beware, you could end up losing everything.
