In August 2011 Professor David Airey was elected a Fellow of the International Academy for the Study of Tourism (IAST). Fellowship is restricted to a total of 75 individuals worldwide and competition to join is very high. Election requires two thirds of existing Fellows to vote in favour. Professor Airey was in Taiwan for the meeting of the Academy in June during which he made his case for fellowship. He joins Professors Tribe and Williams making Surrey one of the very few centres with three or more Fellows.
