Professor Airey attends 61st Annual AIEST Conference

The Association of Experts on Scientific Tourism (AIEST) held its 61st annual conference this year in Barcelona. The conference took place from 28 August to 1 September and was organised by Surrey Alumnus, Jordi Datzira (MSc 1996) who now has his own tourism consultancy in Spain. The venue was the hotel operated by CETT which also runs a range of programmes in tourism and hospitality, up to Master level. The theme for this year’s conference, which was attended by about 70 members and guests, was “Tourism Promotion: new challenges for the tourism sector”. The University of Surrey was represented by long-term AIEST member, David Airey who also joined another Surrey alumnus Yaniv Poria (PhD 2003).
