Wednesday 23 May 2012

Young Guns is the national Hospitality Student of the Year competition, which this year was won by Surrey student Alex Wilson. The event, sponsored by Lexington Catering and run in partnership with the Springboard Charity, gives students the opportunity to be recognised hard work and determination displayed on their professional training year. Alex did his professional training year within the Royal Household, mainly at Buckingham Palace, covering two major events including the Royal Wedding and USA State Visit. Winning the competition gives him the opportunity to do work experience with one of the judges from the panel, as well as attending the Catey Awards in July which is like the Oscars of the film industry.

In receiving his award Alex said 'I am absolutely delighted to be announced as a Young Guns winner for 2012. It is an accolade that I am very proud of. The judging day was really exciting and another fantastic opportunity to network with leading figures in the industry. Additionally, I am looking forward very much to attending the Catey Awards in July. I feel that the opportunities this creates for me now could be even greater than I had hoped for.’
