Dr Lynn Minnaert selected as top Games Expert

Thursday 26 July 2012

On July 24th, PODIUM (the further and higher education unit of the London 2012 Games) presented their database ‘Games Experts’: academics in various disciplines who conduct research into the Olympic Games. Ten Games Experts were specifically selected and bundled in a ‘Top Trumps’ card set, to promote the initiative. Dr Lynn Minnaert of the University of Surrey was selected as part of these 10 top experts because of her research into the impacts of the Olympic Games on socially excluded groups.

In 2009, she was funded by the International Olympic Committee to review this issue over 7 Games: from Atlanta 1996 until Beijing 2008. She is currently writing up a study about the efforts of the ODA (Olympic Delivery Authority) to include hard-to-employ groups into the construction phase of the London 2012 Olympics.

What are the next steps for London and the UK?

Now that the Olympic Games are over, what are the next steps for London and the UK? Lynn gives her views on the PODIUM blog.
