Biography

Jingjing gained her Bachelor’s degree in Chinese language and literature and Master’s in Management from Beijing International Studies University, China. Based on her Master’s thesis, she published a book, Ski Tourism Development and Operation, the first academic book in ski tourism in the Chinese language and being listed as a textbook for universities. Following her Master’s, she worked on CRM for nearly three years in China CYTS Tours Holding Co., Ltd. (CYTS), a leading tourism company in China. She then returned back to academia, graduating from the University of Waikato (New Zealand) with a PhD degree in tourism.

Her publications are fully grounded in her fieldwork research, studies and consultancy practices. For her PhD research which discusses social conflict in tourism development, she spent one year on ethnographic fieldwork in an ethnic community in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region, China. This involved learning Tuva and Kazakh languages. She obtained a grant from the Chinese government for this study.

She has a good network in tourism-related sectors in China, especially in Beijing.

Jingjing’s research is primarily concerned with sociology in tourism (especially social conflict), anthropology in tourism, tourism planning and ski tourism. She has been involved in several research and planning projects on tourism destination development, Chinese outbound travel and ski tourism.
