Biography
Lynn's main research interest is social tourism for low-income and socially excluded groups – this has been the topic of a number of publications and research projects in the UK and Belgium. Together with Graham Miller (University of Surrey) and Robert Maitland (University of Westminster) she is currently organising a seminar series about the topic funded by the Economic and Social Research Council. She is also the appointed researcher for the EU-funded FETE (First European Travel Experience) project, that examines the feasibility of international social tourism exchanges for disadvantaged young people.
Lynn is also interested in social sustainability in tourism and events: in 2009 she carried out a study for the International Olympic Committee that examined the impacts of the Olympic Games on socially excluded groups in the host community. She is currently working on a report about the attitudes of European convention bureaus with regards to social sustainability, and a study about the employment impacts of London 2012.
