Biography
After graduating from her MSc in Tourism Marketing with distinction at the University of Surrey, Patricia received the University’s scholarship and joined other PhD researchers of the tourism subject group. In her first year, she completed the course “Preparing to Teach” successfully, supporting her work as a demonstrator.
Previously, she received her BSc in Tourism Management from the Free University of Bolzano (Italy). She was involved in various industries in Germany and Italy before expanding her work experience at a leading tourism consultancy in Japan. Her international background is evidence to her enthusiasm for cultures which also explains her knowledge of seven languages.
Being the founding President of the Surrey Tourism and Events Society (STES), Patricia together with her committee members contributes to the study experience of the tourism and events students.
The combination of her endeavour to successfully complete her PhD, as well as to gain experience towards her working aspirations in academia and the field of consultancy is further underlined by her passion for tourism scholarship.
Research Interests
Patricia’s research interests are particularly comprised within the subject of sustainable tourism, looking especially at the concept of Fair Trade in Tourism (FFT) for her PhD.
Further areas of interest are related to the field of marketing as well as that of strategic development and management of destinations.
