Biography
William earned a BSc in Hospitality & Tourism from Montclair State University and an MSc in Hospitality Industry Studies with a concentration in Asset Management from New York University.
He began his career as an Analyst in the Leveraged Buyout Group within the Investment Banking Division at Goldman Sachs. He also worked within asset management at Hotel Dynamics, a boutique hospitality asset management and advisory firm. Then, at GE Commercial Finance Real Estate, he was responsible for underwriting hospitality debt and equity transactions and subsequently worked at J.P. Morgan Real Estate Investment Management as an Associate focusing on real estate acquisitions for the Alternative Property Fund.
William also served as Assistant Vice President in the Hotel Finance Group at Aareal Bank, where he originated, negotiated, underwrote and executed cross-border hotel transactions throughout Europe, North America and Asia. His most recent post was at FTI Consulting where he focused on hospitality valuation, bankruptcy, asset management, due diligence, restructuring, market analysis, dispositions as well as development initiatives.
Research Interests
William’s research interests have included his thesis, ‘Hospitality REIT’s & Capital Markets’, as well as a published study in conjunction with NYU called ‘Arthur Andersen Hospitality 2000: Capital Markets’ which captured current and future capital sources, market structures, investment and lending preferences, approaches to underwriting, investment metrics, property market trends and lender attitudes.
