New PhD Studentships

Tuesday 1 January 2013

The department is now inviting applications for funded PhD studentships to start in October 2013.

PhD studentships

PhD studentships for UK and some EU applicants are available through the ESRC funded South East Doctoral Training Centre, and through the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences. Applicants who do not have an appropriate Masters degree can apply for a ‘1+3’ award, which covers the cost of a Masters degree as well as the PhD.

South East Doctoral Training Centre Awards

Details about how to apply for 2013 admission are available at South East DTC. Please review the information on that website to ensure that you meet the criteria of eligibility before beginning your application.

If you wish to apply for an SE DTC award, the first step is to make an application to the Department. The Department will then make a decision on whether or not to support your application for an award and, if appropriate, you can then proceed to completing the DTC application form.

The deadline for initial application to the Department is Friday 1st February 2013.

The deadline for the subsequent DTC application is 4pm on Friday 22nd February 2013.

Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences Awards

The Department also offers a Faculty funded studentship. All applications for a DTC award will also automatically be considered under this scheme, so a separate application is not necessary if you are applying for a DTC bursary. Further information about the scheme (which has the same deadlines as those indicated above) is available here

If you require further information about making an application please contact Dr Geoff Cooper (g.cooper@surrey.ac.uk)
