Biography

After retiring from the National Audit Office, Tom has undertaken a number of projects within the University of Surrey Psychology and Sociology Departments.

He joined the Department of Sociology full time in April 2000 and since then has undertaken research as part of the ESRC Growing Older Programme - Older Men: their social worlds and healthy lifestyles - and a Nuffield Foundation study - Older People and their families: Autonomy and Decision - Making in later Life.

He has just completed a project on Older Men on behalf of SSMR for AGE CONCERN.

He joined the ESRC Survey Link Scheme in January 2005 as Outreach Officer Liaison Officer with the task of developing closer ties between the Scheme and the academic community - researchers, teachers and postgraduates.
