Popular Culture Forum

The Popular Culture Forum is a joint initiative by the Departments of Sociology, Music and Sound Recording, Dance and Theatre Studies, and Culture, Media and Communication.

It aims to facilitate interdisciplinary dialogue among staff from different disciplines within and outside the University through a series of research papers open to staff, postgraduate students and the general public, hence also creating an additional space for the dissemination of findings on research focusing on the production, performance, distribution and consumption of popular culture as well as its social, cultural, political and technological consequences.

Confirmed guest speakers in 2008 include Michael Bull, Sarah Thornton, Richard Dyer, Robert Strachan and Mike Chopra-Gant.
