ABOUT US
We have been running short courses for social researchers since 1981. We are located within the highly reputed Sociology Department at the University of Surrey, UK, which has an international reputation as a centre of excellence in both research and teaching.
We administer events run by the CAQDAS (Computer Assisted Qualitative Data AnalysiS) Networking Project . These can be accessed through the Events calendar to the left, but visit the CAQDAS website for support materials and further resources concerning the use of software in qualitative and mixed methods research.
The Sociology department also houses the Centre for Research on Social Simulation (CRESS), is associated with the ESRC's Resource Centre for Applied Social Surveys (CASS), and publishes Social Research Update, a quarterly for social researchers. In the 2008 RAE the department was ranked joint 6th out of all the Sociology departments in the UK. As a result, our courses and workshops are run by experts in the field.

Testimonials
"I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed the seminar on visual analysis and how useful it was. As well as the clear and detailed presentations based on specific projects it was also really helpful to be involved in the more general discussions around methodology within a qualitative analysis context. Very well worth coming along to. Thanks Christina, Sarah and Christine". Jocelyn Cammack, Leverhulme Early Career Fellow, Institute of Ophthalmology, University College London (Visual analysis using qualitative software, 30th November 2012)
“Thank you for a fantastic session. It is one of the best software training sessions I have had the pleasure of attending. It was a lovely interplay of method with technique while keeping the focus and making progress with the software” (Robert Galavan, Professor of Strategic Management, School of Business, National University of Ireland Maynooth (MAXQDA Training Workshop, 16-17 January 2013)
