Tim Brookes, BSc, MSc, DPhil (York), MAES

Senior Lecturer in Audio

Dr Tim Brookes joined the University as Lecturer in Audio in January 1997, having previously been a Research Associate in the Department of Electronics at the University of York. Prior to that he worked in Nottingham at Business Systems Computing and at The Square Centre recording studios.

Tim's teaching focuses on acoustics and psychoacoustics, he is Senior Professional Training Tutor for the Tonmeister™ Programme, and he is Webmaster for the IoSR. He is currently external examiner for the MSc programmes in Audio Acoustics and Environmental Acoustics at the University of Salford.

His research activities are on the engineering side of psychoacoustics: measuring, modelling and exploiting the relationships between the physical characteristics of sound and the corresponding perception evoked in listeners.

Tim is co-investigator on the Spatial Audio Creative Engineering Network (SpACE-Net).
