Project description
Planetary drilling in low gravity environment is challenging using conventional rotary mechanism. SSC has been developing new generation drilling robot based on bio-inspired dural reciprocating drilling (DRD) mechanism and established various test facilities. Further PhD projects will take the design and development to high TRL and demonstrate DRD as a vible space technology which also has spin-off potentical for various terrestrial applications.
