STES aims to provide students interested in the subjects of Tourism and Events with an interactive forum for networking and exchanging relevant knowledge, experiences and ideas.
By establishing close links to the industry, academics and Surrey alumni, we seek to offer our members the chance to gain practical experience in the Tourism and Events industry. We organise various events, ranging from socials and visits around the UK and abroad to discussions and seminars, thus combining fun and professionalism.
Some important facts:
• The society was founded by tourism and events students in December 2008.
• STES enjoys the strong support of the academic Tourism Subject Group of the University of Surrey.
• In its first year of existence, more than 200 members joined STES with a continuously growing number over the following years.
• The biggest event of STES is The (Tourism-Hospitality-Events) Careers Day, held every year in March.
