Campus Scavenger Hunt 2011

STES‘ introductory event kicked academic year 2011/12 off as expected. About 45 students joined the organizing team and got instructed after being warmed up with their first free voluntary shot and snacks. The members had to form groups and find the answers to the prepared hunt list. Throughout the game, one break-point encouraged the members to engage in three challenging tasks and saw to waves of laughter. After two hours the groups all met with the organizing team at Roots Bar and the winners received their well-deserved prizes. All in all, a very successful and entertaining evening for the returning and new members of STES.

THE Careers Day 2012

THE Careers Day opened its doors for the third time on 28th March 2012. Being the biggest tourism, hospitality and events career fair on campus in the UK, this success was achieved through the unfailing commitment of the School of Hospitality and Tourism Management (SHTM), The Tourism Society and the organising body of Surrey Tourism and
Events Society (STES). As in the previous years, the event attracted over 350 students from the University of Surrey and neighbouring institutions in London and Southern England.

Guest Lecure: Visit Surrey

December was an eventful month for STES as well. On the 7th of December, we were honoured to welcome
Ms. Anna Tomkins, Visit Surrey CIC Project Manager, who delivered a special lecture introducing the work of Visit Surrey and the various organisations they are cooperating with. She also discussed the challenges and opportunities that the industry is currently facing and gave STES some pieces of advice regarding the wide range of activities we can explore in Surrey.
