The University of Surrey’s Student Enterprise Programme offers practical business support to enterprising students from all disciplines that aspire to run their own business or social enterprise, or want to develop employability skills. Our emphasis is on “learning by doing”.
Workshops & Events
We have a challenging, interactive programme of workshops run by experienced entrepreneurs, events and challenges including an annual Enterprise Summer School. The Student Enterprise Programme also provides students with funding, mentoring support, advice and networking opportunities; we are here to help.
We facilitate several opportunities for you to access funding including the Business Enterprise Student Support Scheme (BESSS) and Student Enterprise Kick Starter Fund.
Santander Universities runs a series of competitions throughout the year to win cash prizes, support and advice.
Run Your Own Company
Interested in retail? How about renting retail space on campus in The Enterprise Studio, a dedicated student retail space in the heart of the campus. Gain valuable experience prior to launching to the wider market. A previous tenant has now successfully expanded to sell via ASOS.
Office space is also available at our Enterprise Centre so you can set up a start-up in a safe and secure environment.
Past and current student businesses include a professional nail bar, bespoke jewellery, hairdressing, creative paper cuttings, bike repairs, Dutch bicycles and bike accessories. See Our Enterprising Students for more information on the range of student businesses run on campus.
Our annual Enterprise Challenge will be launching on Wednesday 28 October 5.30-7pm.
