Digital Tools and Environments
There are a number of tools and environments that have been developed at the University of Surrey:
SurreyLearn
SurreyLearn is the University’s new Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It is a secure online environment which can be used in a wide variety of ways to enhance learning and teaching. Typically it is used to provide easy access to up to date and relevant learning materials, module and programme information and guidance, supplemented by activities such as discussion forums, quizzes or tests, and online assignments.
Adobe Connect
Adobe Connect is web conferencing software that enables real-time audio and video communication, interactive online text chat, sharing of documents and use of a shared whiteboard all within a single environment. Within the educational context, this type of software can support a variety of learning activities where either some or all participants are in separate locations.
Electronic Voting System (EVS)
The use of EVS is seen as a powerful approach to enliven the traditional lecture format and deepen the learning that takes place. The University has support for TurningPoint EVS that any university staff member can request to use in their teaching with the option to allow student voting via mobile devices.
