The ITI Terminology Network
The ITI Terminology Network was founded in November 1997 in response to a growing awareness of the need for systematic terminology work, particularly in the context of our multilingual "Information Society".
The main aims of the Network are as follows:
- to allow translators to become part of a network of people with an interest in solving terminological problems, both of a specific and general kind;
- to exchange information and experience on all matters concerned with terminology, particularly as they relate to translation;
- to provide a forum for the discussion of terminological issues which are of interest to translators;
- to provide the opportunity to learn about new developments in terminology and its management
The Network operates through three main channels: meetings (about two per year), a newsletter (about three per year) and members own initiatives to contact each other through the membership list which contains a keyword summary of individual interests. Our membership is currently approaching 50 members.
The annual subscription (January - December) is £10.00 (£5.00 concessions). This entitles members to mailings, newsletters and preferential rates for meetings organised by the German Terminology Institute (Deutsches Institut für Terminologie) as well as their publications. We try to keep the cost of meetings as low as possible.
You can find details about previous or forthcoming meetings of the network here. Please contact Margaret Rogers, co-ordinator, for further information.
