The CTS is a well-established specialist Centre dedicated to teaching, scholarship and research in Translation Studies. Since its inception in 1982, the Centre has established an international reputation in the field for both its research and its innovative taught programmes.

Our teaching and research activities reflect exciting changes which have been taking place over recent years in the scope of the academic discipline of Translation Studies. True to these developments, our activities now encompass audiovisual texts and ‘translation' between modes as well as languages.

We offer study opportunities for students from around the world at all levels from undergraduate, through masters to doctoral level. At Surrey, you can study in a friendly and supportive environment with experienced and well-published academics. On our highly specialized masters programmes, experienced practitioners bring their knowledge of the profession and its requirements into the classroom. The programmes also reflect the latest technological developments in interpreting, subtitling, audio description and translation. Our doctoral programme provides excellent opportunities to continue your studies beyond masters level.

The Surrey approach combines leading research expertise with professional relevance. We are proud of our active links with the leading professional bodies.

New programmes available from October 2009! Find out more here if you are interested in research in Translation Studies, combining Translation Studies with Intercultural Communication, or taking an exciting step into Public Service Interpreting.
