I would definitely recommend Surrey to other students. There is a wide range of module choices so there is something for everyone.

BSc Business Management
I knew experience in the professional world would be invaluable when looking for a job once I graduated, which is why I chose Surrey, for their well-established Professional Training placement programme.
I would definitely recommend Surrey to other students. There is a wide range of module choices so there is something for everyone. Plus, the staff and lecturers are friendly and helpful, and want to see you do well.
The learning environment at Surrey is very good. I particularly like the new Library & Learning Centre as it’s very modern and there are a variety of places to work. My friends and I often booked group working rooms so we could revise together.
I worked at Coty during my placement year in their Export Fragrances marketing department. It has definitely been the highlight of my time at university. I gained so much from my experience which helped with my finalyear studies. This will be invaluable when looking for graduate employment. I’m hoping it will help me stand out from other applicants by having relevant experience.
Throughout my professional placement year I received support from the team in the Surrey Business School, as well as my visiting Professional Training tutor with whom I had regular contact. My managers at Coty were incredibly supportive; they continually challenged me and made me feel like I was a valued member of the team. Having a paid salary was definitely a bonus too!
I like that the campus is quite small in comparison to other universities; it makes it easier to find things and get around quickly.
Surrey attracts a large number of great employers...
Michael Heigl
BSc Business Management
I chose Surrey because of its good ratings in the university rankings and its proximity to London. Being an international student, the fact that the airports are easy to reach from Surrey was very important as well. Good facilities, a great campus and Guildford’s beautiful town centre made my choice even easier.
Even though I knew that I wanted a career in business, I was unsure which field I wanted to go into. This is why I chose to study Business Management. The modules on offer are varied and you get a good insight into different aspects of modern business; once you find out which ones interest you, you can tailor your modules and focus on what you want to pursue as a career. This worked perfectly for me; I gained an understanding of various disciplines and soon became certain that a career in accounting or finance would be for me.
I then applied for a job to train as a Chartered Accountant with one of the Big 4 firms; the application process seemed rather daunting but the University supported me in many ways. I attended classes about CV writing, interview technique and on how to pass assessment centres. Surrey attracts a large number of great employers and many of these sessions were actually run by the firm I wanted to apply to. The University’s Careers Service also helped me with my application form. The University therefore contributed directly and indirectly to my getting the job that I really wanted.
