About the Event

Today, there are more women in work than ever before, but women's progression in the workplace continues to be held back by ongoing disparities in pay and power, difficult workplace cultures (for example gender-based harassment and discrimination), gender stereotyping, and a higher risk of job insecurity.

But how can we improve gender equality in the workplace? Is a seat at the table enough?

In this event, hosted in partnership with the Surrey Women's Entrepreneur Network, each of our speakers will have 10 minutes to present their perspective, before inviting the audience to join the debate with their questions and responses.

As well as the talks, the event will also feature an exhibition with further information and interactive stands demonstrating the work of our staff and researchers to help women thrive at work.

About the How On Earth? event series

This series of events discusses and debates some of the big questions highlighted by the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Adopted by all UN Member States in 2015, this Agenda provides a shared blueprint in the form of 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) aimed at achieving a better and more sustainable future for all by addressing the global challenges we face today such as poverty, inequality, climate change and environmental degradation.

The University of Surrey is committed to generating high-quality interdisciplinary research that tackles some of these challenges, transforming lives in all communities and changing the world for the better.

We invite you to come and learn more about this vital work in our new series and to join the debate: how on earth can we achieve peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and tomorrow?
