After arriving at Surrey I knew this was the place for me. I fell in love the moment I stepped on campus. Surrey was everything I dreamed going to university would be like.
I love science, I always have ever since I was a kid. I find every aspect of it so fascinating, and I love the inherent problem-solving that comes with the subject. It forces me to use my mind and I love that!
There's a lot to like about my course, from the actual subjects to the wonderful people I've met. One of the things I've loved the most is the teaching, especially my lecturers. All throughout my degree, they have made every effort to not only help me succeed but to really get to know me.

My placement
I completed a Professional Training placement at the Clemson Center for Human Genetics in Greenwood, South Carolina. On my placement, I regularly carried out experiments in a genetics lab, working with Drosophila melanogaster which are commonly known as fruit flies. There are too many highlights to count, but one of the standouts was the connections I was able to make - I got to meet some of the most amazing people.
Team Surrey
I’m part of the American football society, the Surrey Stingers. This has been one of the most amazing experiences of my life. Joining this society has taught me so much about who I am. The biggest benefit has been gaining the most amazing lifelong friends. My only real regret is not playing the sport sooner. My biggest piece of advice would be to find a society you love and join straight away!
Looking back
There are too many memories from my time at Surrey to count, from my placement to joining a society and even the nightlife. But If I had to choose one, it would be living with my flatmates in the first year, I couldn't have asked for a better group of people to live with and I genuinely love them all. If I could relive my first year with them, I would!
