Rahul, who graduated with an LLB in 2005, works as Legal Manager at Al Ghurair Investment and has been recognised for his efforts championing the legal department as a genuine partner to the wider business. A new prize this year, it celebrates outstanding achievement in the field by in-house legal professionals.

Rahul has ensured the legal department is seen as an integral and inseparable part of the company through workshops and regular visits to the different business units. Specialising in areas such as dispute resolution, Rahul also manages the group’s arbitration matters and helped standardise draft agreements covering basic goods and services contracts to more bespoke agreements.

In addition to this work, Rahul helped set up the charity Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education, which provides scholarships, support and skills training to disadvantaged high-achieving students. Much of the documentation needed to incorporate the charity—the first of its kind in the Dubai International Financial Centre – was undertaken in Rahul’s own time.

He said:  “I am delighted to be presented with this award by such a prestigious body in the Middle East region’s legal industry. More than a personal accolade, this award is a reflection of the industrious and innovative work that we undertake at Al Ghurair as well as our operations in diverse business verticals.”
