Strategy and Entrepreneurship

The Department of Strategy and Entrepreneurship encompasses a broad field with diverse research and teaching interests. It unites around a shared interest in the ways in which businesses and organisations flourish in an increasingly complex global environment.

With interests spanning start-ups to international corporations and social enterprises to global institutions, Department members focus on the ways in which enterprising behaviours are created, adapted and applied to suit the demands of fast-moving environments.


Department members contribute to most of the undergraduate courses, providing many of the core business subjects. In addition to contributing to the PhD course, it also hosts two successful and innovative masters courses:


The Department’s research has been influential in the fields of entrepreneurship (including social enterprise), international business and trade, and strategic management with papers in each of these fields placed in world-leading journals. There is a close link between research and teaching and in innovative management pedagogy with Department members playing key roles in the School’s new Centre for Management Learning.
