This event aims to discuss the phenomenon of collaborative or sharing economy, collaborative consumption or access based services and its implications for consumers, established businesses, our ecosystems, and society. Academic inquiry lags behind the speed with which this mode of consumption has developed and changed our lifestyles. The goal of this event is to fill part of this gap by bringing together scholars from different disciplines and practitioners.

Topics that we aim to discuss include, but are not limited to:

  • The impact of access based consumption on ecosystems

  • Sharing economy and its impact on sustainable development

  • Changing relationships to possessions in access based consumption

  • Trust mechanisms in sharing economy

  • Access based consumption at the bottom of the pyramid

  • Managing peer service providers to enable a positive consumer experience

  • Matching of peer service providers and consumers

  • Motives and challenges for granting access

  • Spill-over effects from owning and accessing brands

Confirmed key note speakers are Giana M Eckhardt (Royal Holloway University of London) and Annabelle Gawer (Surrey Business School)
