Jonathan originally trained as a microbiologist and following a career in commercial banking has worked at the University since 2005. His particular interests are in life sciences, environmental and computing technologies. Jonathan is a Board Director / University Observer of C-Cure Solutions Ltd, GnoSys Global Ltd, ManagePlaces Ltd and Vizzata Ltd. He chair’s the SETsquared Partnership Research Commercialisation Group.

Rob joined Surrey from the National Physical Laboratory after spending fifteen years in industrial research with five years senior management experience within P&G’s Reading R&D Laboratory. Prior to this he spent fourteen years at Sheffield (both universities) as Lecturer/Professor specialising in electronic microsystems (VLSI design and MEMS).

Mr Trevor Hartman

Trevor has worked in Technology Transfer at Surrey since 2008 managing the University IP portfolio, following a similar role at Queen Mary University of London. His role primarily involves ensuring that university Intellectual Property (IP) is evaluated, protected and maintained, as well as providing IP advice to university staff and students. Trevor’s background is in diagnostics, principally microbiology diagnostics, with over 25 years working in R&D, product development and evaluation and Intellectual property.

Mr Peter Lancaster

Peter has a background in engineering development, applications engineering and technical support gained from working for SMEs, Government Labs and multi-national technology companies. Before joining the University, he most recently worked for the National Physical Laboratory in their knowledge exchange group running projects for the EU, Innovate UK and universities. He covers all technical areas that are within the EPSRC remit and is available to help form Pathway to Impact strategies for EPSRC research proposals and to help identify and apply for funding to exploit research outcomes (eg. Innovate UK).

Departmental duties

Peter helps to manage the EPSRC Impact Acceleration Account at Surrey. This programme enables researchers to explore routes for the rapid exploitation of their research with external partners and, for companies, reduces the risks of engaging with early-stage research.
