Steve Waygood lecture

In 2018 the annual Roland Clift lecture was presented by our alumnus, Dr Steve Waygood, of Aviva Investors. Dr Waygood’s lecture was entitled: Can capitalism deliver sustainable development.


Dr Steve Waygood is Chief Responsible Investment Officer with Aviva Investors and leads its engagement and voting on environmental, social and governance (ESG) issues. He is the founder of the Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative and the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Coalition and was on the board of the UK Sustainable Investment and Finance association (UKSIF) for many years.

He also helped produce the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment and was part of the UK delegation to Rio+20. Steve is a member of the CFA Institute, has a degree in economics, a PhD in sustainable finance and lectures at the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership.
