Why study here

At the University of Surrey, you’ll experience exceptional teaching in state-of the-art facilities. But university life extends beyond the lecture theatre. Your time at university will help you to grow and develop before joining the world of work, while giving you the opportunity to make long-lasting relationships and create wonderful memories.

Top 5 reasons to choose Surrey

1. There’s no place like Surrey

Our self-contained campus has everything you need to work, rest and play. Our Library offers modern and comfortable places to study and access to expert support for your studies. Committed to enabling students to study successfully in a digital environment, all taught students (from September 2021) will be provided with free, personal, digital copies of their essential textbooks. The campus also has numerous coffee shops, bars and restaurants, and a convenience store. Surrounded by nature and wildlife, you can also enjoy our beautiful lake and green spaces without even leaving campus.

2. A caring campus

Study at Surrey and you’ll be joining a welcoming and inclusive community. We really look out for one another and help each other become the best we can be.

We offer a range of support services across campus including the MySurrey Hive, which provides guidance on all student-life related queries, and MySurrey Nest, where you can seek solace in a relaxing environment.

Throughout your time here, our Centre for Wellbeing is here to help take care of your mental and physical wellbeing, and our tutors and Peer Support team are on hand to help you settle in and provide support.

3. Guaranteed accommodation

We have more than 6,000 rooms available across our campus sites, with a choice of several price bands to suit your lifestyle needs and budget. All our accommodation is self-catered and over 50 per cent of rooms have en-suite facilities. Students living in our residences benefit from 24/7 security across all sites, wi-fi and possessions insurance.

Our wide range of accommodation was included in the Student Crowd Best Student Accommodation Awards 2018.

We will guarantee accommodation for Clearing and Adjustment students who apply for accommodation in good time and meet the conditions of their academic offer by 22 August 2021.

4. Supporting your career

Surrey has an outstanding record for graduate employability. The annual Graduate Outcomes survey, published by the UK’s Higher Education Standards Agency (HESA), ranks the University of Surrey’s graduates 12th in the country (against other higher education institutions), with 96% finding work or going on to further study after graduating (UK domiciled, undergraduate full-time students).

96% of our graduates are employed or in further education within six months of graduating (Graduate Outcomes survey 2020, HESA).

5. Gain real industry knowledge

Surrey offers Professional Training placement opportunities with over 2,300 partner organisations across the UK and abroad, helping you to get a head start in your career. These placements offer you the chance to work in your chosen industry for up to a year, enabling you to get first-hand experience alongside continued university support.

In 2021, Surrey won the National Undergraduate Employability Award for the Best University Placement Service (Over 750 Placements) for the third year in a row.
