"I have wanted to work in the field of Economics ever since studying the subject at GCSE. I feel that Economics teaches you ways to make a difference in the world. The quality of the Economics department at the University and its high ranking in the league tables is what attracted me to study my Masters here.
I have enjoyed all the topics I have discovered so far on the programme. We learn about new software packages that will be extremely valuable in the workplace. The academic staff are great and there is a friendly support network around you of lecturers and PhD Students who are helpful in answering questions. The facilities are also good. I use the MSc computer lab everyday as it is a great space to work with my classmates.
I like the accommodation at the University of Surrey, especially because it has secure bike storage and you do not have to worry about any extra bills. My accommodation is a short walk from the amazing Surrey Sports Park where I train with the Ultimate Frisbee Team. I played the sport at my previous university and I knew Surrey had a team so I was excited to start playing with them. We are very successful in a number of competitions. It is also great to socialise outside of training with the team who have been super friendly and have definitely made my experience at Surrey fun.
I have certainly increased in confidence through coming to the University of Surrey. I am able to argue my case and explaining my workings out to my peers in the MSc computer lab, as well as work as part of a team playing sport. The university has been a great stepping stone into hopefully going on to do a PhD or perhaps working in an organisation such as the World Bank or the UN."
