"I chose the Creative Music Technology course here at Surrey because I wanted a degree that would challenge me artistically and intellectually whilst placing me in an environment where I am surrounded by other like-minded individuals. I have found the course to be mouldable as I have been able to tailor the module choices to get what I want out of it.
One of the amazing things about this course is that it allows you to work closely with the students on the Music course and Sound Recording Tonmeister course, meaning that we are able to work in partnership with these students and in doing so, I have developed skills of professional peer communication, team work and networking that will benefit me directly in the workplace. I have had the opportunity to have my compositions performed and to also perform in recording sessions and concerts, which has improved my competence and professionalism.
The lecturers are dedicated to each student as an individual. They are always available for questions and they respond fast with helpful detailed responses. The facilities are brilliant here with suites full of new iMacs. I am now more confident and adaptable as a composer and performer as the academics have offered fantastic varied expertise.
We also have a lot of industry experts come in to talk to us. One of my highlights is meeting Harry Gregson Williams, an A-list Hollywood composer, which was amazing because I got to talk to him on a one-to-one basis.
Simply put, my time studying Creative Music Technology has been the most creative, diverse and enjoyable three years of my life and quite honestly if I could, I would happily in a heartbeat turn back time and spend another three years here at Surrey."
