"I decided to study Computing and Information Technology at Surrey because of the positive things I’d heard about the student community and the excellent employment prospects after graduation. I soon found that I’d made a good decision. The facilities ideally suited my needs and the diversity of the modules enabled me to specialise in the areas I was interested in such as Artificial Intelligence and neural networks.
I spent my Professional Training year with the University’s IT Services department, which gave me a new and unique perspective on university life. This experience definitely helped me to gain my current role as Support Service Manager for the EMEA region at Fidessa – in fact I was successful in my very first job interview.
My advice to current students would be to stick with it when there are occasional stressful periods. The two things that help immensely are frequent visits to tutors and the great support you get from friends on the same course."
