To mark the 150th anniversary of the publication of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, by Lewis Carroll, 12 of our leading composers have been commissioned to write a short piece inspired by one of the chapters. The pieces will be performed in order, telling the narrative through music, interspersed by an actor reading a specially written script. Composers range from Mark Anthony Turnage and Sally Beamish to Howard Blake. The full details are available on the website (wonderland150.com). The new work is touring nationally and internationally and we are delighted to host this performance in the very church where LewisCarroll preached. Matthew Trusler, violin Ashley Wass, piano. Narrator Chris Jarvis.
Wonderland will be released on Orchid Classics in November 2015 to coincide with the month in which the hugely successful 2nd Edition of Alice in Wonderland was published. All profits from the CD will go to the LTCF.
Tea and jam tarts will be served from 4.30pm.
