Biography

After qualifying with an HND in Data Processing, Bevis King worked in the City of London for a small research firm as the data processing manager. After this he moved to Imperial College, London where he worked as a systems programmer in the Computing Support Group in the Department of Computing. In 1990, he moved to Surrey, working first in the CDCR (now School Computing Service) and then in the Surrey Ion Beam Centre. With over 20 years experience as a systems administrator and programmer on Unix systems, he is a very vocal proponent of Linux and Unix operating systems. He develops software and manages the computer systems for the Ion Beam Centre.
