Guidance for International Foundation Year students

As a student on the International Foundation Year course you will need to attend an induction programme when you start in September 2017.

Your induction programme is a complete introduction to the UK, the University, and the International Study Centre.

It’s vital that you arrive on time so that you don’t miss out.  You should receive a pre-arrival email to let you know what time to come on the first day.  If you have not received a message, please report to the International Study Centre at 10am on 25 September 2017.  On arrival you will receive your induction pack which will include the timetable for your Induction Programme.  The International Study Centre is located on the main Stag Hill campus, close to all facilities.  The ISC is in the Philip Marchant Building, marked PM on the campus map.

During your induction programme you will learn about:

  • The International Foundation Year programme and what you need to achieve to progress to the University
  • Life in the UK
  • Opening a bank account
  • Registering with health services
  • University campus and facilities
  • Collection of your Biometric Residence Permit
  • Police registration

There will also be social events taking place in the International Study Centre, University accommodation and the Students’ Union, and plenty of opportunities for you to meet ISC staff and teachers, and get to know your new classmates.
