International Women’s Day Keynote Lecture

We are pleased to present an afternoon of talks and networking to acknowledge, support and celebrate the International Women’s Day campaign for 2017, and to demonstrate the University of Surrey’s commitment to creating an environment in which women, students and staff, are respected, treated fairly and allowed to excel in their chosen field. Maggie Aderin-Pocock, a pioneering figure in space science and science education, is committed to inspiring new generations of scientists, astronauts and engineers. Listed as one of the UK’s top 10 most influential black people in 2013, Aderin-Pocock aims to challenge stereotypes by communicating her love for science to children and educating them about space.

International Women’s Day Evening Celebration

Staff and students are invited to join us to celebrate Surrey’s Women in STEM. Our panel of inspirational speakers will be sharing their stories and answering your questions, followed by networking with fizz and canapés. You will also have your chance to vote for our STEM woman of the year, with the winner announced on the evening. Chaired by author Adele Parks, the panel includes Olympic athlete and diplomat Cath Bishop and gender equality campaigner Emily Reeves. Additional speakers will be announced shortly. Welcoming you to the evening will be Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Max Lu and Chief Executive of Surrey Chambers of Commerce Louise Punter.
