Doctoral College Weekend Writing Retreat

It is often difficult to find the time to devote to writing. Therefore, we are offering two days of intensive writing aimed at researchers (students or staff) who would like to benefit from a supported environment to assist in the progression of a piece of writing. Support, mentoring and motivation (!) will be available from the Researcher Development Programme team. This is an excellent opportunity to progress with thesis chapters, journal articles, funding bids, confirmation reports, or PhD proposals, within a structured and motivating schedule.

What is a Writing Retreat?

The retreat is open to all doctoral research students and research staff.

  • This is an intensive two-day writing retreat, during which you will have large blocks of time for writing
  • It is ideal if you can commit to both days; however, you may register for only one if necessary. When registering please indicate which day you would like to attend.  Preference will be given to those who are able to attend for both days
  • We particularly encourage participation by distance and part-time researchers.  Preference will be given to these groups of researchers
  • Participants will be contacted by their writing mentor prior to the retreat to discuss their aims for the retreat

If you would like to apply for a place on this retreat then please fill in the online form by 30th May  Please note that numbers are limited and registration does not guarantee you a place.  Successful applicants will be contacted by 3rd June.

If you have any queries about this retreat, please email rdp@surrey.ac.uk
