What It Takes...To Beat A Pandemic
It's a new year and despite the challenges of the current lockdown, there is hope on the horizon as we start to tackle the pandemic through effective vaccination programmes.
The University of Surrey will be hosting an informative online session on ‘What it takes…to beat a pandemic’ on Friday 29 January, 1:00pm – 2:00pm. We will hear from Surrey’s leading experts in immunology, Professor Deborah Dunn-Walters FRSB (Professor of Immunology in the School of Bioscience and Medicine and Chair of the British Society for Immunology task force on Covid-19 and Immunology), and Dr Natalie Riddell (Lecturer in Immunology and Ageing) who will share their knowledge on the important topic of vaccination.

The link to join the event will be sent to you a few days prior to Friday 29 January.
Our speakers will explain the vaccine development process, how vaccines work, the immune response and levels of protection produced and discuss vaccine safety. They will explain the differences between the main vaccines you will have heard about in the news and will answer questions and address your concerns about how vaccines will help us combat the pandemic in the UK and beyond.
Dr Natalie Riddell, said: “The development of the COVID-19 vaccine has been dominating the news agenda for a number of weeks and has led to a number of unsubstantiated rumours and theories. This has made it is hard to distinguish between what is real and what is speculation. We want to help the alumni community stay as informed as possible about the vaccine and ease any concerns they may have.”
The event will finish with an interactive Q&A session to give you an opportunity to ask our speakers any questions that you may have. If you would like to submit a question before the event, please email email@example.com.
We do hope that you will be able to join us for this timely event covering an important topic for our current times. Book your FREE place today.
