Overview

What are the freedoms and restrictions of writing very long or very short form stories and poems? How are contemporary writers crafting their novel series, children’s fiction, or Instagram poems? What can we learn about dialogue, pacing, and the development of theme when getting started on a new book or working with relationships on the page?

Join us for Surrey New Writers Festival this year where we’ll be hosting a great line-up virtually, over two days! Our theme for 2021 is: Long Form / Short Form. There will be taster sessions and talks on writing dialogue, creative collaborations, ghostwriting, and getting started with short poetry. We’ll have readings with authors of children’s books, YA humour, magical realist stories, Victorian crime series, contemporary literary fiction, and Instagram poetry.

Whether you come for the whole day to listen, discuss, and to meet the authors, or just join us for a masterclass or two, we look forward to welcoming you into our festival community.
