Equine expert appointed Head of new School of Veterinary Medicine

Professor Christopher Proudman joins us at Surrey in September.

Professor Christopher Proudman has more than 20 years’ experience as an equine clinician and clinical teacher and joins Surrey from the University of Liverpool where he has held numerous managerial and leadership roles in the School of Veterinary Science.

Professor Proudman, whose current research focus is in the area of equine gastrointestinal health and disease, said: “This appointment is a really exciting opportunity for me to use my clinical and veterinary research experience to help develop an exciting and innovative School of Veterinary Medicine.  I am looking forward to working with the team in the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences to help deliver our vision of a 21st century Vet School.”

Professor Lisa Roberts, Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, said: "I'm delighted to welcome Chris to the University of Surrey. He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and a strong track record of research and leadership, and I very much look forward to working closely with him in the development of the new School."
