ERIE Welcomes Research Fellow - Spencer Thomas
In April 2014 we welcome research fellow Spencer Thomas to the ERIE team.
Originally trained as a Physicist, Spencer recenelty completed his PhD in computer science, developing analytical and computational skills to solve large complex problems in biological systems. A multidisciplinary project, this worked focused on the mathematical modelling of the bacteria Streptomyces coelicolor, which produces antibiotics.
Spencer's research interests include the real world applications of mathematics; Optimisation; Large scale and complex problem solving; Data analytics; Parallel computation.
Spencer joins the ERIE team as a Research Fellow in applied mathematics working on the development of mathematical analysis tools for macroscopic models, such as agent based models, that run on parallel processors.
